Education
Amy Landis received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry from Denison University, and her master’s and Ph.D. in Civil and Materials Engineering from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
Expertise
As Presidential Faculty Fellow for Diversity, Inclusion & Access, Landis leads implementation of the Colorado School of Mines’ strategic plan for DI&A, which includes programs and initiatives for campus learning and development, hiring processes and trainings, and annual reports on progress. She works closely with admissions on recruitment, with academic affairs and human resources on retention and promotions, and supports executive leadership on communications and outreach. As a professor, Landis teaches a course she developed on Life Cycle Assessment to both undergraduate and graduate students.
Previously, as Director of the Institute for Sustainability at Clemson University, she coordinated campus-wide interdisciplinary research, education, and outreach programs related to sustainability. She also served as director of Research for the Center for Earth Systems Engineering and Management at Arizona State University, coordinating interdisciplinary research related to sustainability.
Professional Activities
Landis is DEI Committee member of the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment, an American Institute of Chemical Engineers Conference co-chair and Conference Committee Chair, and a member of the International Symposium on Sustainable Systems and Technology. She has created workshops for national conferences on strategies for supporting equity and inclusion in higher education.
