Nathalie Cunningham, CFA, CAIA

Member

Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director, Strategic Investment Group

Nathalie Cunningham brings to RCSA decades of experience as an institutional investor, with a particular focus on setting investment strategy and constructing portfolios for nonprofit institutions. Her career began in a research laboratory. Having served as a research assistant in the protein engineering group of Eastman Kodak Company, Cunningham saw first-hand the powerful impact of scientific discovery. Consistent with her interest in supporting transformational science, Cunningham serves as the Chair of the Pensions & Investments Committee for the American Chemical Society.

Cunningham is currently Deputy Chief Investment Officer and Managing Director of the Strategic Investment Group in Arlington, Virginia, where she works directly with nonprofit institutional clients (endowments, foundations, and healthcare systems) on all aspects of their investment programs. Prior to joining Strategic, she served as a Senior Investment Officer in the Office of University Investments at Cornell University, and as the Director of Public Market Investments for the University System of Maryland Foundation. Prior to transitioning to the world of higher educational endowments, she served as a Partner and Portfolio Manager for Terrapin Asset Management.

Cunningham is a CFA® charterholder, and a Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst. She received her MBA in Finance and Economics from New York University’s Stern School of Business and a BA in English Literature from McGill University, where she was a Faculty Scholar.
