Robert B. Woodward received the Research Corporation Award “for his major achievements in chemical synthesis and elucidation of chemical structures.”
Woodward (1917-1979) received Research Corporation grants in 1949, 1950, 1951, 1952 and 1953 for experiments on the “synthesis of cortisone” and a grant in 1957 for “the investigation of the structure and synthesis of chlorophyll.” He would be awarded the Nobel Prize in chemistry in 1965.
