Ernest O. Lawrence (1901-1958) was awarded the Nobel Prize in physics in 1939. Research Corporation supported Lawrence’s work for many years with grants in 1930, 1931, 1932, 1934, 1935, 1937, 1938 to secure magnet to build the first large cyclotron, and grants for research in nuclear physics in 1939, 1940, 1941, 1942.
