Research Corporation for Science Advancement has named Stacy Pigott as its new communications director. Pigott will lead RCSA’s strategic communications program, including media relations, digital strategy, and organizational storytelling to broaden the foundation’s visibility and impact.
Pigott brings nearly two decades of experience in science communication, higher education, and journalism to RCSA. Reporting to President Eric Isaacs, she will oversee the foundation’s digital and print content, web and social media presence, and media outreach, with a focus on highlighting the work of RCSA-funded scholars.
“Stacy brings a rare combination of deep scientific grounding and sophisticated digital strategy to RCSA,” Isaacs said. “Her proven track record of translating complex fundamental research into compelling narratives makes her exceptionally qualified to amplify the achievements of our scholars and advance our mission of funding high-impact, transformative science.”
Pigott joins RCSA from the University of Arizona Office of Research and Partnerships, where she served as senior director for executive communications. During her nine years at the university, she also held leadership roles as executive director of brand communications at the University of Arizona Health Sciences and director of news and media relations within the central communications office.
“Stacy’s expertise in science communications and working closely with scientists will greatly advance RCSA’s visibility and brand reputation at a time when science is in need of broader appreciation and to regain public trust,” said Danielle Johnson, RCSA Board member and executive director of the public radio broadcast Science Friday.
Pigott holds a Master of Science in Digital Audience Strategy from Arizona State University and a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science with a double major in Agriculture and Natural Resource Communications from Michigan State University. She began her career as a news magazine editor, writer, and photographer, establishing a firm commitment to narrative and visual excellence.
“RCSA plays a vital role in supporting early-career researchers as they pursue innovative ideas that might otherwise go unfunded,” Pigott said. “I am thrilled to join the team and look forward to highlighting the pivotal impact of foundational science, strengthening the Research Corporation brand, and sharing the extraordinary stories of our Cottrell Scholars, Scialog teams and RCSA Fellows.”
Pigott joined RCSA on July 20. She can be contacted at spigott@rescorp.org or 520-539-4152.
