The inaugural meeting of Scialog: Quantum Matter and Information was held October 16-19 in Tucson. The three-year initiative aims to build better connections between different sectors of the quantum science community and seed research to enhance our understanding of the quantum world with an interdisciplinary perspective. Coinciding with the United Nations’ proclamation of 2025 as the “International Year of Quantum Science and Technology,” the conference engaged 57 early career researchers from a cross-section of disciplines — physics, chemistry, materials science, surface science, applied mathematics, computer science, and engineering — in a series of conversations to encourage collaboration across silos.
