Reinhard Genzel was part of the German collaboration that helped launch the RCSA-supported Large Binocular Telescope (LBT) on Mount Graham in Arizona, as well as a 1982 RCSA grant recipient for a far-infrared and submillimeter laser for astronomical spectroscopy.
