1983

RC founded Research Software, a computer software clearinghouse.

In response to the dawning of the computer age, Research Corporation established Research Software, a nonprofit collection center for computer programs for university research, engineering, educational, medical and business purposes.

RC proposed to enter into contracts with universities and/or university faculty and staff that had created specialized computer software of scientific and technological value. Research Corporation would copyright the programs, and then introduce the software into public use via a catalog containing abstracts of programs offered, descriptions of applications, operating hardware and software requirements, and ordering information. Buyers would pay a reasonable fee for use.

The project was short-lived.
