Edward L. Tatum (1909-1975) received the Nobel Prize in physiology or medicine in 1958. He was awarded Research Corporation grants in 1946 and 1947 for research on the uses of isotopes in the study of biosynthesis of amino acids and vitamins by mutant strains of neurospora and E. coli.
