RCSA staff and directors mourn the loss of Sofia L. Morris, 58, our program support specialist and office coordinator. She died March 7, 2017, following a brief illness. Sofia had been with RCSA since 2002. She leaves behind her mother, sister, brother, and her daughter, Luciana Fontana, and dozens of relatives and friends.

Sofia was the ever-cheerful person who greeted local vendors and visitors to the RCSA offices, as well as gracefully interacting with RCSA’s nationwide community of grantees as the support specialist who processed grant reports. She was always willing to take on new tasks and to straighten out the problems of her coworkers.

“It’s hard to imagine RCSA without Sofia,” said RCSA Interim President Danny Gasch. “She was the one who remembered all the little, but ever-so-important things – everyone’s birthday, what printer cartridge they needed and whether they preferred milk or dark chocolate.”

Sofia loved cats and dogs, and she was passionate about music and played the piano.

“Sofia was a caring and nurturing person,” said RCSA Program Support Specialist Kathleen Eckert. “She would always put her own feelings aside to help comfort someone in need of an ear or shoulder. Sofia was not just my co-worker but my dear friend, and I considered her a part of my family. She can never be replaced in our office or in our hearts.”

No services are planned at this time.
